The Brownsville Heritage House 45th Anniversary Gala & Awards Ceremony on March 28,2026 was a truly unforgettable celebration of our legacy and its deep roots in the community. The evening unfolded in a beautifully decorated room filled with warmth, elegance, and the pride of 45 years of service.

- Inspiring words from our Guest Speakers - Attorney General Letitia James' video message, Dr. Sharon Deans (daughter of Ms. Patricia Deans,) who also presented Mr. Horace Young with the Cultural Award in her mother's name, Mrs. La'Shawn-Allen Muhammad executive director of Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation, Councilman Chris Banks who also presented our Mother Gaston Leadership Award to Mrs. Iris Robertson and finally our very own Brownsville native Assemblywoman Latrice Walker. They all honored the past, celebrated the present, and energized the vision for the future.
The night captured everything the Brownsville Heritage House represents—heritage, unity, resilience, and community love—making it a celebration that will be remembered for years to come! Thank you to all that made it possible.

In tribute to our first curator, Patricia Deans, we are honored to launch this new award and present it to Horace Young. Ms. Deans' tireless dedication ensured that Rosetta Gaston's legacy endured and flourished. The award recognizes those who, like Ms. Deans, serve as guardians of memory—preserving history with care, nurturing community connections, and inspiring future generations to honor the past while shaping a vibrant cultural future. For his continued support and dedication to BHH and the Brownsville community, Mr. Young exemplifies a most deserving candidate.
ROSETTA GASTON LEADERSHIP AWARD WINNER
We are proud to launch this eponymous award, named after our visionary founder, by presenting it to Iris L. Robertson. This award celebrates individuals whose unwavering commitment to cultural preservation, community empowerment and historical stewardship echoes Ms. Gaston's pioneering spirit. Recipients of this award embody the courage to create, the wisdom to educate and the passion to uplift the voices and stories of Brownsville's rich heritage. Iris Robertson leads by example in every sense-integrity, vision, empathy, courage, accountability, humility and consistency are all part of her character.
